Domestic Abuse Study

There is a new study about the experiences of bisexual women age 50+ with domestic abuse that could help care providers like doctors and counselors better understand and help their patients. For this study, you are invited to describe your domestic abuse experience(s). 

Interview Information:

•There will be one (1) 30-60-minute Zoom interview that will be audio-recorded. Though I invite you to turn on your video camera, I will only use the audio recording for my analysis and assure you that the video will not be viewed by anyone else. 

•To protect your privacy, the published study will not share any names or details that identify you. 

There is one exception to confidentiality we need to make you aware of. In certain research studies, it is our ethical responsibility to report situations of child or elderly abuse/neglect, or any life-threatening situation to appropriate authorities. However, we are not seeking this type of information in our study, nor will you be asked questions about these issues.

Volunteers must meet these requirements:

•Participants must be Bisexual females 50 years old or older.

•Participants have experiences with domestic abuse (physical, psychological, financial, or verbal abuse, threats, or being held against your will).

•Interviewee must not currently be in contact with perpetrator(s).

•There must be no ongoing legal actions regarding the abuse.

•Participants must have received counseling or therapy to process previous abuse experiences.

This interview is part of the doctoral study for Teresa O’Flynne, a Ph.D. student at Walden University. Interviews will be scheduled during the summer/fall of 2026.

If you meet the criteria for participation and agree to take part in the study, you must respond “I consent” to the email to move forward in the research study.
